Scientific comment on Traditional Chinese Medicine Techniques:

"Acupuncture should become more widely available on the NHS and family doctors should be        trained in some of its techniques, a BMA enquiry has concluded."

"Acupuncture is very effective for persistent or chronic pain especially if it is related to stress...skin conditions and allergies. Patients who have tried the usual medications, diet and relaxation therapies without success should consider acupuncture. It also works well for conditions that tend to relapse like women's health problems, hormonal disorders, migraine and odd digestive difficulties."

Dr David Peters, Clinical Director , School of Integrated Health,

                             University of Westminster

"The way acupuncture works is being increasingly understood in general medicine."

"A growing body of evidence suggests that the ancient Chinese practice of acupuncture really can enhance a woman's chance of conception. Two week ago Eric Manheimer from the university of Maryland published an authoritative review of acupuncture's effect on IVF treatment in the British Medical Journal <which> found that genuine acupuncture could increase a woman's chance of pregnancy by 65%"

                             The Guardian 19 February 2008

" Acupuncture has been around for centuries. A part of traditional Chinese medicine, it may help treat body pains, headaches, or even nausea. But it’s supplementary benefits might surprise you — especially if you decide to let your acupuncturist have a go at your smile lines."

FAQ

Are acupuncture needles safe?

Acupuncture needles are sealed in containers on manufacture and once opened these containers cannot be resealed. No responsible acupuncturist would ever seek to reuse a needle once used and all needles are safely disposed of.

Are Chinese herbs safe?

Chinese herbs are very safe if prescribed correctly by a properly trained practitioner. Chinese herbs are like herbs used in traditional medicine everywhere - taken from the natural environment and not subjected to intense chemical processes to concentrate the active ingredients to high levels of toxicity

What can be treated by Chinese medicine?

Chinese medicine is successfully used for a wide range of conditions including: skin, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, respiratory, rheumatic, psychological, urinary and gynaecological disorders.

How do I know if Chinese medicine will be of any use to me?

A first consultation is always completely free. You can make your own mind up whether to try a particular treatment or course of treatment.

Is an appointment necessary?

No, we will always try our best to fit you if you do not have an appointment. However, we can not guarantee you will avoid having to wait unless you have a prior appointment.

How many treatments will I need?

This is impossible to say in advance of a consultation. Some treatments are relatively quick to take effect and may not take more than a single consultation. As a rule of thumb, the more severe the condition and the longer you have been suffering from it, the longer it may take to achieve a cure.
